Trevor Hughes: Our Chartered Professional Engineer

Our Managing Director Trevor Hughes has recently reconfirmed his status as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), an extremely highly regarded standard of professionalism within the industry.

Assessed and reviewed by regulatory body Engineers Australia, the CPEng status is a significant achievement and coincides with another significant achievement, as Trevor celebrates his ninth year with AME!AME staff 6

Since Asset Management Engineers was established in September 2006, Trevor has utilised his extensive knowledge and experience as a Chartered Professional Engineer to turn AME into the industry leader it is today.

The internationally recognised CPEng status is a highly respectable achievement that once obtained requires regular formal assessment. For this assessment Trevor was required to demonstrate up-to-date expertise, leadership, mentoring, and ongoing commitment to the engineering industry, with a focus on quality, safety and ethical standards.

The professional development and practice requirements included documenting specific tasks and professional capabilities, for which Trevor’s involvement in nearly 1600 jobs over the last three years far exceeded minimum obligations.

Often describing himself as our “reluctant Managing Director” this skill, expertise, knowledge and hands on approach have made him an outstanding leader and mentor at AME over the last nine years.

“His passion for the industry and commitment to education and training are unparalleled,” says AME Operations Manager Steven Ansell. “Trevor is a huge asset for both AME and the industry, a wealth of reliable information and expert advice.”

Trevor is also well known within the industry for developing AME’s Classified Plant Training program through his knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act (MSIA 1994) and Regulations (MSIR 1995) and his extensive experience in the mining and resources industries in Australia.

Through this Trevor has been responsible for training over 1200 personnel in various positions, including the Department of Mining and Petroleum (DMP) Inspectors.

The AME team are incredibly proud to work alongside and under the guidance of Trevor, and congratulate him on these outstanding achievements!
