What is Section 44 in Mining?

Mine Managers and site supervisors are responsible for the safety of everyone on site. They have many duties and obligations, however, they may also delegate certain tasks to appointed persons under Section 44 of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act (WA).

What does a Section 44 training course entail?

Designed for supervisors of mine sites, Section 44 training gives participants an understanding of their responsibilities, legal obligations and duties as a Section 44 appointee.

The course assessment consists of assessment questions and activities to be completed at the end of each section. There are no post-course assessment requirements.

What’s covered in Section 44 training?

Broadly, Section 44 Training with AME will give you an overview of Health and Safety Legislative Framework, as well as appointments and responsibilities under Section 44 of the Mines Safety Inspection Act 1994 (WA).

Section 44 training is an awareness course for those working in the West Australian resources industry, which arms appointed persons with the necessary legislative knowledge to perform their role safely.

Upon completion, participants will have an understanding of the legal obligations of mine managers, and persons appointed by them, on mine sites.
